January 2010

It is really sad that the Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight is no longer feasible over a piece of blood checking conflict. Still, there is no reason not to sit back and enjoy other good fights and games. If you cannot let go of Pacquiao’s March 13 fight night, then you got yourself a date. Pacquiao vs Cottey fight will be aired live from the Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Or, if you happen to be a Mayweather fan, he will be dancing in the ring with Shane Mosley on either May 1 or 8 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

These two fighters are going to see each other in the ring soon. This might not just be the right time for them and they knew it that is why they are finding ways to relieve themselves. But whatever they do, they will surely meet and fight each other to let the world know who the better from the best is. As for me, I’m betting on Mayweather; but Pacquiao has gone a long way too. He will not let himself be defeated this time. Besides, this could have been the best time for Mayweather while Pacquiao is still ailing from his ear problems after the fight with Cotto. It could also been the best time for Pacquiao as he is still in the tip condition.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter who they fight this first or second quarter of the year for as long as they save the best for last. They have to both win their upcoming fights so they will still be the best fighters to match before the year is over. Let us just hope that these two will not have conflicts over what– hotel reservations maybe –in the next fight plans so they can finally test their strengths and powers over each other.

All you Indian nationals, you will be seeing a lot of small cars on your streets in the days to come. Chevrolet Beats, Volkswagen Ups, Toyota Yaris, and Renault Sandero are just among the few in the list. They will be out in your market starting this January. This is in response to the global waning of economy and of course, to provide the greater public with low budget commutes in the midst of the crises.

Though these compact cars are categorized under economy section of the auto market, they are manufactured with excellent efficiency. To name one, the Sandero is designed with state-of-the-art features and is available in either petrol or diesel injection. Marked at around Rs 5 Lakh, it is considered to be best buy!

Other makes and models to enter the auto market of India are rated to tip the excellent efficiency set for their class. Check out Volkswagen’s other models Polo and Scirocco. These are the kinds of stuff you will definitely want for a commute. They are too handsome for their prices of Rs 4.5 to 7 Lakh and Rs 30 Lakh, respectively.

Surveys can tell us something but we are definitely wiser now. We cant just let surveys dictate us who we want to win the Presidency and endure another 6 years of unhappy leadership. What we can do is check out the lives and deeds of our Presidential candidates. From more than a dozen, we only now have 10 official candidates. The Comelec’s list includes Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro under the administration or Lakas-Kampi CMD party, Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III of the Liberal Party, Manuel B. Villar Jr. (Nacionalista Party, Richard J. Gordon of the Bagumbayan party, Joseph “Erap” Estrada of Puwersa ng Masang Pilipino – UNO, John Carlos “JC” Delos Reyes of Ang Kapatiran, Maria Ana Consuelo “Jamby” A.S. Madrigal running as an independent, Eddie C. Villanueva of Bangon Pilipinas, Nicanor Perlas, and Vetallano Acosta of Kilusang Bagong Lipunan.

The surveys identify Aquino on the lead, Villar on a strong second, and Estrada on the mighty third place. They are followed by Teodoro, Gordon, and the rest. If the election is based on surveys alone, the Liberal Party could have won the highest post of the country. But we are not robots that are fed with information to move. We are a bunch of feeling people; we can think and make a stand on what we want. Let us vote wisely. Let us not be dictated nor be corrupted with what the papers say.

Of course, let us choose a leader who really has the leadership skills on top of what he or she has in the heart. This factor is very important unless we want to once again be ruled in a puppet government style the way we were in the American regime. We cannot let that happen, can we?

If only Burj Khalifa is a Philippine edifice, we might have enjoyed yet another long vacation. We’ve been accustomed to that, thanks to the great government. The additional vacation should have been last January 4, when the new tallest building tower in the whole wide world at 828 meter was opened to the public. The opening ceremony was graced by Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammad, who marked the event by unveiling the plaque of Burj Khalifa tower.

The Burj stands with 160 storeys, dwarfing Taiwan’s Taipei 101 tower, China’s Shanghai World Financial Center, Malaysia’s Petronas towers, and US of A’s Sears tower. Its construction started way back in 2004 through the efforts of Emaar Properties.

The now proclaimed tallest building in the world has state-of-the-art and one-of-the-kind facility systems, applicable for both residential and commercial purposes. It has a massive water supply of 250,000 gallons on a daily basis, which is more than enough even when the entire building will be fully occupied. the electricity system has a conversion to 350,000,100 watt light bulbs.

its architects and engineers covered all basis by providing refuge areas in every 25 floors just in case a fire or other untoward happenings occur. Elevators are an added attraction than just a simple lifts. They are designed as double decked observation areas with 5,500 kilograms capacity.

I think it is time I get this blog straight again. This is not supposed to be a personal blog, but what can I do? I am a sentimental fool. It is not too late, though. I got one topic in my mind that needs some light. Days ago, our family and the rest of the families in our community celebrated the three kings’ day. Going out in the city proves otherwise. There are not so many people who celebrate this day anymore. In fact, you wouldn’t see garlands and greetings in the malls. Does this mean humans have started to strip the history with what they can categorize as surpluses to the holidays?

My mom used to tell us the tale of the three kings’ day. It is the feast that looks back to humbling one’s self. These kings are……kings! Yet, they have visited a baby in the manger and offered gifts. That is really humbling. We celebrate it to remember that we have to be humble all the time. That we have to consider other people, to treat them well, and to respect them however poor or rich they are. This feast has to be celebrated because we are neighbor loving people and we will not let each other fall.

Yes, it is easier said than done. If we can’t celebrate this day, we tend to forget the moral of the story. I guess it is better to stay as a kid who can just always listen to what their parents has to say. To what they will read at nights as they croon you to sleep. Repeating tales and tales of goodness until you are asleep—but remembering the story when the day light comes peeping in the horizon.
